It is with great pleasure that the Department of Media, Communications and Cultural Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London presents the 2021 BA Degree Show, Absent Departure. The show will be curated by and feature the work from students graduating from our Media and Communications, Media and English and Journalism undergraduate programmes.

Students will be showcasing work from their different disciplines: Animation, Creative Writing, Digital Video for the Web, Illustration, Interactive Media, Journalism, Photography, Radio, Screen Documentary and Screen Fiction.

The title of the showcase, Absent Departure, refers to the difficult and turbulent year we have faced as students. Learning online has been a challenge, with students participating in classes from their bedrooms all around the world. In order to adapt to the changing briefs, regulations, marking, and remote learning, we have had to work and think in ways we haven’t done before. We have taken charge of our creations, we have grown, and we are finally ready for the end of our journey at Goldsmiths. Unable to say our goodbyes in person, our long-awaited departure is one from which we will be physically absent. But the show must go on(line). We hope to meet you there.

Activities will range from live readings and performances, virtual screenings, an in-person photography exhibition, and more.
