From New Cross to Australia

Education, design and entertainment are just some of the diverse sectors occupied by our new Alumni Ambassadors.

Goldsmiths is a global institution (we are the 38th most international university in the world ) and our alumni population reflects this. We have newly appointed ambassadors based in Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, the Caribbean, Ghana, Indonesia, India and Canada.

Joining our network of alumni ambassadors is Emma Gillespie (BA French and German, 1991) in Perth, Australia. Emma was inspired to get in touch after noticing our online presence.

“Seeing Goldsmiths portrayed so positively via social media recently brought back good memories of my time there all those years ago…”

Reminiscing about happy days at Goldsmiths is a common theme amongst our ambassadors. Sara Bynoe (MA Creative and Life Writing, 2009) is enjoying a career in entertainment in Vancouver and still looks back fondly on her MA.

“My time at Goldsmiths was wonderful. My professors and mentors were among the best in their field and my fellow classmates were inspiring. As an ambassador I’m looking forward to connecting with alumni and building a stronger community of creatives on the West Coast…”

Moving away from London and the UK means that topics are not limited to life in New Cross. Lucy Choi (MA Arts Administration and Cultural Policy, 2007) is currently the Development and PR Manager of the Opera Hong Kong and has a love of music that has taken her around the world.

“During my study at Goldsmiths I was very fortunate to have worked as an intern at the world renowned performing arts venue: The Barbican Centre…I would like to share my experiences, to inspire others…”

We hope our new ambassadors will work together to take part in Around the World 2016 and bring together more like-minded alumni to make it an even bigger success than last year.

This year saw our first flagship event in Tokyo, and there are now three new ambassadors to take us into 2016. Haruko Miyauchi (MA Brands, Communication and Culture, 2013), Satoko Noi (MA Media and Communications, 2005) and Hikari Kono (BA Media and Sociology, 2010) attended Goldsmiths Reunite in Tokyo this year and met up last week to start planning their event.
