Olivia Humphreys (MA Screen Documentary, 2010) won the 2015 ShortDocs Challenge for her radio story, What Makes a Good Marriage, at the Third Coast Festival in Chicago. What Makes a Good Marriage is a story about how her grandparents met. Now in their 90s and married for nearly 70 years they offer their advice on how to maintain a long and happy marriage.
Based in Chicago, the Third Coast International Audio Festival curates sound-rich audio stories from around the world and shares them with as many ears as possible – on the radio, on the Internet, and at public listening events all over the place. The 2015 ShortDocs Challenge invited stories inspired by the work of oral historian Studs Terkel.
Olivia Humphreys is an award-winning radio producer and documentary filmmaker based in London. Her films have been screened in over 50 festivals worldwide, and her audio documentaries have been broadcast on BBC Radio 4.
