During A Caribbean Couturier in Lewisham, project lead, Joy Prime collaborated with apprentice, Nicole Bastien-Morris to design and make a new made-to-measure gown inspired by Sylvia Prime’s story. The final result brings contemporary design processes together with techniques handed down through generations of Caribbean women.

The gown was made-to-measure for Esther Austin, who documented the process and debut of the garment at the ‘People’s Fashion Show’ on her lifestyle magazine website. It featured prominently as part of the installation for the launch of the Mayor of London’s Black Future’s initiative on 19 November 2022.
