Postcards: Teddy Boys

Image: Postcard collected at the Telegraph Hill Centre

My secondary school was Wallbutton Road, SE14. At 13 I sat an exam in South East London College and passed to go to a trade school in Southwark – Elizabeth Newcomen, it trained cooks and nurses. South East London College is now Lewisham College.

In the early 1960s I lived in Deptford, I wasn’t sure about this area because in the 1950s there was a lot of Teddy Boys gangs but I found the people very friendly and community like.
