Christmas at Goldsmiths

The library will close on Friday 20th December at 9pm. Please make sure you’re ready to go then, so all staff can start their winter break on time!

You might have noticed our festive tree made of  damaged books. When library books are well used, with pages falling out and edges worn, we always try our best to put them back together. If you ever notice a book you have on loan that needs some attention, bring it to the help desk and we’ll have a go at mending it!

Not all books can be fixed – if pages are missing, covers damaged or they’ve been badly defaced. When this happens we usually replace the book if it is still popular and relevant, otherwise the title is withdrawn.  And this year our hard-working books are part of our Christmas display!

Also featuring on the tree is a beautiful, handmade, little gold book for each subject area, where you can write your Christmas wish list of books you’d like to see for your subject.  We’ll send these to our subject librarians for consideration and next year you might find your Christmas wish on our shelves!

Happy Christmas everyone – enjoy a well-deserved break. The library will re-open at 8am on Thursday 2nd January 2014
