‘Danger Deep Excavation’, Photograph and Sea Stones, 20cm x 25cm

Artist Statement:

I was thinking about the experience of being on the course, and being in personal therapy as an essential part of the course, and how it feels like “deep excavation” has happened: personally, but also within the peer group and through our learning. It reminded me of Freud’s fascination with archeology books. Then I saw this sign, and was struck by the DANGER. What part does cultural conditioning play in determining if excavation is dangerous, needed, or both?
