Dark Spaces
These photographs were taken after lockdown measures were put in place. I previously concentrated on photographing landscapes and outside spaces, whereas the circumstances of lockdown turned my attention towards my home environment.
As a result, I have found myself re-evaluating and navigating a new relationship with these spaces and the time I spend in them. Exposure settings of up to an hour made this very much a time-based process, reflecting a need to find meaning and structure in the longer periods spent in these smaller interior surroundings.
Taken in late evenings, after dark, the photographs represent a search for some kind of clarity and familiarity amidst the challenges, uncertainties and anxieties that these changed circumstances have provoked.
Your images echo familiarity and resonate with me of a shared global experience 👏🏼
