From the beginning of ‘Lockdown’ I would cycle along the South side of the Thames Path in London a couple of times a week. I noticed the increasing stillness of the Thames in contrast to the clusters of human activity on stretches of the pathway.
The photographs are a selection of images made as a personal record of this time; my own, scaled-down version of the social research movement ‘Mass Observation’ which started in the late 1930’s.
The juxtaposition of neglect and regeneration along the cycle route has been emphasised through editing the colour, tone and contrast of the paired photographs.
Great photos and depict the area very well. I live on the development that houses those statues!
