Comfort, Assortment of wools, 29cm x 58cm, 2020

A central theme explored in this work was nostalgia which involved bundles of wool inherited from my grandmother after her passing. It had sat idle for years but after embarking on the course, I felt a yearning to work with this tangible material. Integration of the wool in my artwork embodied an element of intimacy whilst providing a sense of purpose and comfort. Perhaps this was due to the time I treasured receiving knitting lessons from my grandmother. Although emotionally provocative, my inclination towards using this material was amplified by my natural ability to create with this medium.
