Comforter

A central theme explored in this work was nostalgia, I felt a yearning to work with the wool due to its tangible nature. The integration of wool in my artwork, embodied an element of intimacy whilst providing a sense of purpose and comfort. Although, emotionally provocative, my inclination towards using this material was amplified by my natural ability to create with this medium, in turn, quieting my ruminating mind.

Whilst contemplating the sensorial aspect of the work, I was struck by the weave’s disguise as a transitional object. The weave and the creative process soothed me, providing relief during these turbulent times. It has become a capacity for self-nurture and a comforter for me.
