Subversive space: A room of one’s own, Giclee Print, 2021

During the last year, I have struggled to find space that is set apart for reflection and reverie. Looking for different experiences of interiority and a ‘room of one’s own’ as described as necessary by Virginia Woolf for creating the conditions for full creative expression (Wadell, 2002). The 5-mile restrictions illuminated previously unseen spaces and the subversive inhabitation of these spaces in dens and hideaways speaks of secret places where restoration and escape happen.
