A collection of recent works around the theme of prolonged uncertainty. The invisible current of dread we are experiencing, alongside a loss of all reference points during Covid-19, has led many of us to engage with unconscious ‘radical splitting…as a means of making the world orderly and logical.’

‘Most of us are swinging back and forth between feelings of hope and despair, confidence and fear. We experience these fluctuations because both sides are equally valid and invalid, since we don’t know what tomorrow will bring. (“Psychoanalyzing the Coronavirus,” Dr M Roth 2020)

My series of paintings and sketches are a response to these inevitable daily fluctuations. ‘Good Day v Bad Day,’ is an A3 poster that provides structure through symmetrical pattern to unstructured thoughts, experienced during lockdown.
‘Resistance’ and ‘Balance’ are visual representations of the more complex and blurry thought processes that lay between black and white. A state difficult to reflect upon during a time of such uncertainty.
