Holding Pattern, Card, watercolour, pencil & papercut, Dimensions variable (approx 62 x 69cm),  2021

Towards the end of my placement, I began thinking about an aeroplane circling the sky in a ‘holding pattern’. This felt symbolic of the therapeutic relationship between my clients and I over the course of 24 weeks on Zoom as we drew nearer to the ending. I felt as if I was gently descending the therapeutic relationships, and helping to steer them to a gradual ‘good enough’ landing. The ‘landing’ felt representative of beginnings and endings.

  1. Love this analogy, it creates an image I can really relate to and explore my own feelings about.
