Professor Adele Jones

Professor Adele Jones PhD is Professor of Social Work at the University of Huddersfield. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences and winner of the 2016 National Coordinating Centre for Public Engagement Award for Health and Wellbeing. Professor Jones is Director of the None in Three Global Centre for the Prevention of Gender-based Violence, named in recognition of the global statistic that one in three women and girls will experience physical or sexual abuse in their lifetime, a reality that the Centre is committed to change through research to influence policy and practice and the production of anti-violence video games. She says that the role feels like the culmination of a personal drive to tackle a social problem that is deeply troubling to her. The work is emotionally distressing but because of her colleagues and friends she is able to ride the dark days and stay optimistic about the potential for change.
