Professor Bugewa Apampa
Professor Bugewa Apampa PhD, MSc, PGDipClin.Pharm, FRPharmS, MFRPSII, FHEA is Professor of Access & Participation in the Vice Chancellor’s office at Birmingham City University.
She says that her role offers an opportunity to ensure that disadvantaged students realise the transformational power of higher education through a relentless focus on their access, continuation, attainment and graduate level employment – areas for which there are significant gaps nationally based on class, wealth and ethnicity.
While at the University of Sussex as Director of Pharmacy and Director of Teaching and Learning in the School of Life Sciences, Professor Apampa took a leading role in designing a new pharmacy course which won student-led awards and the vice-chancellor’s excellence award for its outstanding and innovative curriculum, centred on delivering an exceptional student experience through active learning and co-curricular activities.
Before academia she worked in health services, including community, hospital and a primary care trust, where she was the project director responsible for the implementation of the community pharmacy contractual framework.
