Stephani Hatch

Professor Stephani L. Hatch PhD, SFHEA is Professor of Sociology and Epidemiology, Department of Psychological Medicine, Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, King’s College London.

She is founder and lead for the Health Inequalities Research Network (HERON), a public engagement network that promotes collaborative community approaches to knowledge dissemination, action and youth outreach.

She is also a co-lead of initiatives promoting and changing policies to ensure the embeddedness of equality, diversity and inclusion at KCL and advises on related work for NHS England.

Professor Hatch leads an interdisciplinary research programme and public engagement activities focused on urban mental health; inequalities in mental health and health services; discrimination;
and young adult mental health.

She is currently the principal investigator for the Wellcome Trust funded Tackling Inequalities and Discrimination Experiences in Health Services (TIDES) study and programme lead on communities and mental health in the ESRC Centre for Society and Mental Health.

She says that her work is a privilege. She works with supportive people, she has autonomy and creative freedom – all allow her to concentrate on her daily goals: stay focused on her purpose, be present, have clear intentions and create opportunities for others.
