Biography

Dr Kate Lawrence is lecturer of psychology at St Mary’s University, London. Her work specialises in neurodevelopmental disorders, with a particular focus on the influence of diet and the microbiome on mental health, cognitive function and sleep. She is currently collaborating with Professor Alice Gregory, of Goldsmith’s Sleep Lab, on a Waterloo Foundation funded project, exploring dietary influences on sleep, behaviour and cognition in children with ADHD. Kate is interested in the use of actigraphy to assess sleep quality and duration in intervention studies and with regard to its associations with mental health and lifestyle factors. She is dedicated to the public communication of science, having worked as research editor for website Foods Matter, writing for Frontiers for Young Minds (Science journal for children) and speaking at schools and patient support groups.
