The Chronotopes of Palestine (38′) produced by Sociology student Dominika Blachnicka-Ciacek as part of her PhD study is a collection of five ethnographic shorts, which explore different modes of remembering among three generations of exiled Polish and British Palestinians. Taking the individual and familial stories of displacement and migration as cinematographic itineraries for the films, the camera becomes a travelling device moving across geographies and boundaries exploring different spatial and temporal layers of subjects’ relationship with Palestine. While these journeys might initially be taken as ‘back to the roots’ films, the ‘returns’ are off-limits to the Palestinian subjects…
