The symposium Walking Places, which Anita Strasser, PhD candidate in Visual Sociology, co-organised with her colleague Carla Duarte in Lisbon, took place in January 2019. It was hosted by Dinamia ISCTE-IUL – The Centre for Socioeconomic and Territorial Studies at University Institute Lisbon and supported by CUCR. The E-Book contains Anita Strasser’s article ‘The Stone Sea: a walk through mountain research’ – a piece narrating Anita’s experience of mountaineering as sociological practice. It also includes the article ‘Walking, Cadence and Urban Rhythms’ by Alex Rhys-Taylor who gave the keynote at the symposium, and the article ‘Flâneuse Fragments: Towards a critical and situated feminist approach to walking in the city’ written by Emma Jackson.
The e-book can be downloaded for free.
