Thanatoscope: a film/art installation

by Mischa Twitchin

Thanatoscope is a fifteen-minute film (played on a continuous loop) created by the theatre artist, Mischa Twitchin. The film explores how we see death and what death makes visible. It draws on the idea of the death mask, which appears to be an impression taken of and from the face of the deceased, and incorporates images of objects including Beethoven’s death mask.
