A Golem’s Tale is an interactive installation, investigating digital identity. Told through the lens of the Jewish tale of the clay man who comes to life to perform tasks, the Golem is originally a cautionary tale. The installation engages the participant through a markerless motion capture system, as they themselves become the Golem, represented by a 3D scan of the artist. The work is autobiographical in form but the story is contextualized by the recent Hollywood and WGA strikes, who are protesting for artist ownership of their digital image rights and protection against AI replacing workers.
