Creative High Streets – Southwark

Creative High St Programme

Peckham & Camberwell

The programme aims to work with independent high street businesses in Southwark to develop and deliver creative and cultural activity, in turn to increase footfall.  We will work with cultural anchors in Southwark and with the Council to connect cultural infrastructure and activity with the local independent business eco-system.

We will help activate Southwark’s high streets, empowering independent high street businesses to deliver creative and cultural activities which themselves align with the themes and objectives of the Thriving High Streets fund. We will focus particularly on underrepresented and hard-to-reach business owners, and those who may not typically engage with creativity and culture.

We will work with your business to create new activities which:

  • Help drive increased footfall to their business and their local high street
  • Grow and diversify your customer base
  • Support you to become sustainable and can continue after the project has ended
  • Align with Southwark Council’s wider objectives:
  • Sustainability
  • Celebrating our place
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Diversity, inequality and anti-racism

We will offer:

  • Professional workshops
  • Student consultants to help develop new product or service
  • Direct support through a business mentor
  • We will deliver crowdfunding support through which participating businesses will secure funding.
  • Support applying for Southwark’s Thriving High St fund, up to £25k and other funding opportunities
