About

Established in 2023, the Goldsmiths Translation Research Group (TRG) is housed within the Department of English and Creative Writing and aims to build the capacity of academic staff and PhD students to produce and disseminate translation-related research/practice research and to compete for externally funded research income through a forum that stimulates interactions between disciplinary approaches and methodologies.

The TRG defines translation-related research/practice research as any research that addresses theoretical or practical issues relating to the interpretation or communication of meaning across borders of language and culture and embraces a wide range of disciplinary and methodological approaches.

Membership will be of interest to those academic staff and PhD students who are engaged in the study, description and application of language transfer, interlingual translation or interpreting, and to those whose engagement with their objects of study requires different forms of linguistic or cultural encounter, or whose research practice interlingual and/or intercultural modes of working.

Linked research-led programmes include the MA in Translation and the PhDs in Translation and Translation by Practice.

New members welcome

Membership is open to all current staff and PhD students at Goldsmiths, University of London.
